Below are brief descriptions of Illusions Styles...

Latin Fusion - all new style

Ever seen it and wished you could do it?? Well so have we... So now we are about to bring Smithton alive with moves and music from a wide genre of Latin dance. Hip shaking and groovy footwork will demonstrate mostly Salsa with a hint of meringue, reggaeton and cumbia to name a few. We will start with the basics until everyone gets the feel for it then gradually introduce more and up the tempo!!

*please note – this style is danced on your own and a partner is not required

Funk

Very energetic and boppy, the style originated from Reflextions Dance Studio in Burnie and was introduced in the late 90’s. The style has been revamped over the years and proves to be a favourite for many dancers along the coast. An entertaining style to watch and great fun to dance.

Retro (advanced)

To any dancers out there that have done disco into the higher levels, this style is the one for you. This is the 3rd syllabus of disco so will be quite a challenge. Again it has proven to be very popular and allows you to really let loose. Are you up for the challenge?????

Jazz

This is the foundation of most dance styles. Teaching technique and control while staying modern and fun for both age groups. All our teachers have a Jazz background.

Modern Ballet

Nice soft style, the description says it all. Our teachers have been lucky enough to have the influence and guidance of a classically trained ballet dancer. She has passed on her knowledge and continues to be an avid supporter of the style.

Jazz Moves

Great starting point for the 5 to 8 year age group. This class will teach the foundation of dancing and will add that extra touch of fun. This class prepares the students for the transition into our other styles.

Hip Hop

This hip, cool and boppy style is one of our newer styles. With elements of street and funk it is sure to get you moving. Choreographed by a talented girl who has recently returned to Tasmania from a long stint away furthering her dance career. She has performed in Hong Kong 2 years in a row for 7 months at a time.

Disco

One of the best styles for the beginner, disco is an easy flowing style with the opportunity to really let loose. Very popular style that has been a favorite for many.

Techno

This style has the emphasis on energy and strength throughout the body. Modern moves are incorporated in this fast paced style.

Move 'n' Groove

The 2 to 5 year olds gain confidence and co-ordination while having a great time in this class. Action songs are used to introduce them to basic dance steps while teaching them to count with the music. Great starting point.

Strictly Street

Street can be anything you want it to be as long as its modern and there is so many different ways to interpret it. The emphasis will be on relaxing the body and letting it flow freely like you would freestyling at home. A lot of street dancers have had no dance background at all and are still amazing so lets lose ourselves in this class.

Tap

Our tap is taught by a fully qualified teacher from Victoria with a wealth of knowledge to pass on. Learn the correct technique while having a great time. Get the beat in your feet! Be part of our tap troupe with Anita Goulter (RAD.TH.T.AAD diplomas).
